A note from Bruce and Barbara about their workshops

In our half day workshop we will present a broad overview of what it is like using the sun and the wind as sources of heat and energy. We will also explain many different examples of energy efficiency and conservation. With the class being small, there will be plenty of opportunity to see, touch, and ask questions. Come dressed to spend some of the time outdoors.

Here are the topics we will demonstrate and discuss:

+ A brief history of our place and a sharing of dreams and values. Dialogue about the challenges and rewards of living this lifestyle.

+ Solar water heating and solar space heating.

+ Solar cooking and food dehydration.

+ Energy efficiency and conservation in the home. This is really the most important part of the renewable energy home. The ideas presented can be used in conventional homes as well.

+ Generating electricity from the wind. We will explain how our wind generator works and discuss equipment that is available.

+ Generating electricity from the sun. We will examine all the components of our photovoltaic electric system.
